Brief Belle Place History of JAG

Jobs for America's Graduates was introduced at Belle Place Middle School in fall of 2021. This course offering opened new opportunities for our 8th graders at our school. Our JAG program has been very successful over the past few years. During our 2022-2023 school year our program housed the first ever middle school state officers in Iberia Parish. For the year 2023-2024, we also had the opportunity to have another state officer represent our parish and he also won on the Knowledge Bowl Team on the national level during JAG's National Career Development Conference in St. Louis, Missouri April 2024.

JAG is currently growing throughout Louisiana and the country. Students who are a part of JAG are not just in a class they are members of an organized organization that advocates for them. The primary mission of the JAG Middle School Program is to help students in grades 6-8 develop leadership skills that will help them transition successfully from middle to high school. Career Specialists (classroom teachers) provide an array of counseling, skill development, Career Association, and experiential learning opportunities that will improve student academic performance, school behavior, attendance, confidence, participation, and self-esteem.

Belle Place Middle School JAG is here to help your student obtain optimal success now and in the future. Upon transitioning from middle school to high school JAG is still an option at our feeder schools New Iberia Senior High School and Westgate High School.

Our 2024-2025 school year will be filled with tons of hands- on learning activities, service learning (community service events), fundraising, and employer engagement through guest speakers and field trips.

Ms. Matthews, welcome's your student and you into our JAG Family!
