ALL STUDENTS MUST WEAR A MASK WHEN RIDING A SCHOOL BUS AND WHEN INSIDE OF THE SCHOOL BUILDING!!!

According the Governor’s mandate of August 4, 2021, all individuals 5 years old and up must wear a mask when inside of a building, regardless of being vaccinated or not.  Therefore, all students, staff, and visitors on the campus of BPMS will be required to wear a mask.

CDC guidance provides that all students in grades Pre-K thru 12 should wear face masks in public settings to reduce the spread of COVIDÔÇÉ19, where other social distancing measures are hard to maintain. As per Presidential Order 13998 that went into effect January 2021 and due to the close proximity of students on the school buses, the Iberia School district will  follow the guidance of the CDC this year and masks will be required and considered part of the students’ uniform. As with the uniforms and school supplies, the responsibility lies with the family of the student to provide them with an appropriate mask in order to be transported to and from school on an IPSB bus.

ORIENTATION UPDATE

We were really wishing we could have a normal orientation, but that does not seem safe at this point. We will open the gym and cafeteria for students to come and get their orientation packets and pay their fees. If you have been sick, have been in close contact with someone who is sick or has COVID, please do not come to orientation. Your student will be given their schedule and packet the first day of school. ONLY 1 PERSON MAY ACCOMPANY THE STUDENT FOR ORIENTATION. You may come any time between during the times listed, but please be aware that if you come too late, you may not get your orientation completed as we will ask everyone to leave when the time is over. We will not have a general assembly. We will only issue packets and collect fees. We will have extra time allotted on the first day of school to show new students around the campus and to go over policies and procedures with students. We started this way last year, and the students did fine. Masks MUST BE worn inside of the school building by everyone! Please park in the side parking lot. NO NEW STUDENT REGISTRATIONS CAN BE DONE DURING ORIENTATION. If you wish to register your student, please come Monday or Wednesday.

August 10th is orientation:

7th grade is 9-11; students whose last name is A-K, will report to the cafeteria; students whose last name is L-Z will report to the gym.

8th grade is 1-2:15; students whose last name is A-J will report to the cafeteria; students whose last name is K-Z will report to the gym.

Anyone who needs to know bus driver information should check the district website at www. iberiaschools.org and click on the departments tab and transportation. You will select the school and look up the bus driver based on your street.

Thanks for your understanding.

Due to the Governor’s new mandates and an increase in the positivity rate in our area, we will adjust orientation procedures.  Only 1 person may accompany the student for orientation.  Students will report to either the cafeteria or the gym based on last name.  They will pay fees and get student information packets at tables by last name.  Depending on the number of people on campus and the positivity rate on the day of orientation, we may allow the student only to proceed to their homeroom to meet their teacher.  We will ask that everyone follow social distancing guidelines and keep masks on at all times, wearing them properly.  Anyone who refuses to wear a mask or who for some reason cannot wear a mask, will not be allowed inside of the school building.  Orientation times will remain the same.  However, since there will not be a presentation, you are free to come anytime during the alotted time for your orientation.  However, please be aware that we will ask everyone to leave at the time your orientation is scheduled to end.  Any unfinished business will have to be taken care of the first day of school.

BPMS Orientation will be Tuesday, August 10th.

7th Grade Orientation will be from 9:00-11:00—We ask that only one guest accompany student to orientation.  Students will pick up packets in the cafeteria and then proceed to their homeroom class.  Once in homeroom, a brief presentation will be played from the Principal.  Homeroom teachers will then collect fees from students.  After fees are collected (approximately 9:30), bells will ring for students to proceed through their schedule so that they are familiar for the next day.  Students will be allowed 5-10 minutes in each class and a bell will ring for them to go to the next class.

8th Grade Orientation will be from 1:00-2:15—We ask that only one guest accompany student to orientation.  Students will pick up packets in the cafeteria and then proceed to their homeroom class.  Once in homeroom, a brief presentation will be played from the Principal.  Homeroom teachers will then collect fees from students.  After fees are collected (approximately 1:30), bells will ring for students to proceed through their schedule so that they are familiar for the next day.  Students will be allowed 5 minutes in each class and a bell will ring for them to go to the next class.
